Wall mount install IQ4 panel to standard outlet box

I’m hoping for a clean wall mount install for an iq4 panel but I couldn’t find if I can install it to a standard single or double gang box (possibly one with a recessed outlet installed?). And if I could, do I still have to run the power to an outlet with the transformer or is it possible to just use the room in the backbox to power the unit? Curious how it’s wall mounted/ installed in new construction.

You can use a box. It’s not required but could increase stability and make things easier to maintain.

I’m not sure how well the transformer would fit in a box with the receptacle but I’ve heard of electricians doing it. Never tried it myself.

I’ve run the wire down the wall to a nearby outlet and it’s worked well.

Thanks. Yea, wonder if i can just have the power in the box. I have to imagine it’s possible and would be the cleanest looking install.

You can’t power it off of 120v if that’s what you’re asking. You need the transformer that’s in the power supply or an equivalent voltage/current matching the output of the transformer to power the panel.

If you can recess an outlet far enough into the wall to fit the little power supply, it would work of course.
