I want to control the lights in my detached garage from my back porch. There are no wires in my porch that go to the garage. I saw the linear wt00z smart switch that claims to be able to do that but it looks like I need a MiniMote to associate the smart switch to the load switch in the garage. Is that as complicated as it sounds? Anyone know of other options?
It isn’t a complicated process, but yes you would need a supplementary controller to associate the switches. The minimote is the handy option that we have always used.
As for the process, it involves pressing the “Associate” button on the minimote, and pressing the two switches.
Keep in mind distance can play a role, so if the second desired switch position is fairly distant from the first, you may want to rig a different option.
