Video Time Outs - ADC-V515 with Smart Chime

Hi,

I’m having constant issues with my cameras in the house timing out after 1-10 seconds. I have three V515s and a VDB780B connected to a smart chime. The chime is on an IOT dedicated 2.4 ghz SSID, connection shows as excellent (it’s close to the router in clear air). A V515 across the same room is showing timeouts after 1 second.

I’ve rebooted my network with limited success. It’s not a mesh system. Moved the smart chime closer to the router and camera. No improved performance. Any other troubleshooting steps to take? I can’t put the doorbell direct to skip the smart chime, but should I put the cameras on the direct network?

What model of router are you using? Yes, try moving over the cameras to the router directly (just to be clear, you also had them connected to the chime AP?)

What kind of ISP do you use? (cable, DSL, cell, direct fiber, etc).

I’m on Verizon’s FIOS router, tri-band but ensuring only 2.4ghz on the IOT SSID: Fios Router | Verizon Internet Support

I did have the cameras on the Chime AP, will see if there’s an improvement on the router’s service. Unfortunately doesn’t help with the actual doorbell video which is recording events, but consistently timing out after 5-10 seconds connected to live video.

Of course, we just want to rule out the chime as a source of the issue.

Took a bit - swapped out the Verizon router after making a bunch of changes there and noticing no difference in video performance (on Chime and direct), moved to a Synology router with isolated IoT network. Things significantly improved, almost no immediate time-outs on any videos.

Issue was the poor router performance here. Thanks!

Thank you for the follow up! ISP supplied routers are a mixed bag sometimes, glad you got that sorted! This will likely help future users as well.
