Hello! So I am a bit new to networking and setup, so please have patience. I bought 3 VC847PF cameras, and have a pre-wired house for camera setup. Decided to go this route instead of paying $1k for setup! I also bought a Ubiquiti UniFi Switch Lite 8 PoE which is what I am plugging the cameras into in the attic type area. I also have Eero as my “router” which was setup by the service company. If I plug my camera directly into the Switch Lite, directly into the router, it works. I brought it upstairs, plugged it into the CAT6 from downstairs and plugged it in, while the actual ethernet wire works (can watch tv) my camera gives the error of “LED Amber: IEEE 802.3af/802.3at.” I am at a loss of what exactly to do, I can explain further if need be, but anyone know where to start?
LED Amber: IEEE 802.3af/802.3at
Where are you seeing this? Can you please provide a photo or screenshot showing what the problem is?
IEEE 802.3af/802.3at are just POE standards. Are you saying this displays instead of the video feed?
How long is that cable run between the POE switch and the camera? Not just the straight line distance, but any slack/loops in the cable too.
So the feed comes in on port 8, the one to the TV is on port 5. The camera is port 1. Now the funny thing is - even with the camera right next to me (and not installed), same issue if I plug into port 1. If I plug the cable out from the router into port 8, and keep the same setup (minus the tv one), it works. Odd…
I still need the context of where you are seeing the POE standards text. Can you please provide a photo or screenshot showing what the problem is?
In general some quick other tests would be switching the camera to port 2, 3, 4 do they all show the same behavior? Is that a managed switch? Looks like it might be based on a google search.
I am not familiar with using that model, but make sure that ports have POE enabled in settings.
What model of TV is it? Maybe a good idea to separate out the cameras and other devices on separate switches.
