Using old wiring for new system?

Is there a way to utilize an existing wired system setup (GE Concord 4 Series) and translate to a newer system to use on alarm.com?

Happy to help. Yes, you can typically reuse existing wiring and it is commonly done when replacing a control panel.

You cannot use existing power supplies, but you can splice on additional cable as needed to reach an outlet nearby the old panel can. Depending on the length of the run and the gauge of cable, you may need to double up on conductors.

It will just come down to the gauge of the cable and the distance of the wire run. Do you know which alarm system you are looking to install?

I have no idea, was just seeing if possible. Do you have a suggestion? We have Qolsys at other property…

The Qolsys IQ Panel 2 would be able to reuse wireless GE sensors if they exist with the Concord installation. It may be a little harder to utilize existing wiring though for power due to the lower voltage input it uses. The distance of the wire run cannot be quite as long.

There are no wireless sensors, its 100% wired.
