I recently updated my GC2 to firmware v 1.19 using an update cable. I then tried to update my two TS1 panels which are currently version 1.10x using the cable and 4 pin adapter however the software does not seem to recognize the panels and I cannot update them.
Is there an ability for Surety to update the TS1 panels OTA? If so, what is the cost for this? If it cannot be done can you provide some guidance as to why they are not updating? The GC2 update was flawless but I could not get the TS1 to work at all.
The TS1 panels are still connected to the GC2, however whenever I arm the GC2, the TS1 panels arm it differently (i.e. Away, when I actually armed stay).
Yes, I have the TS1 1.16 file. It is not working when I try to flash the system. So you’re saying that there is no way that you can update the TS1s OTA even though it’s still connected to my GC2 panel?
OTA update of TS1s is not sent independently of panel firmware, it gets sent along with the panel OTA and TS1s are updated if needed along with the panel.
With the panel itself at the latest version an OTA for the panel cannot be pushed, unfortunately.
Note with the TS1 and the four pin adapter, the cable must be facing a specific direction noted in the update instructions. If the cable is flipped upside down (reversing the pins) the update won’t work.
The TS1 needs to be powered off, cable inserted, software run, then power up the TS1. Are you going in that order?
Also, 2GIG’s firmware update process is pretty archaic, but you need to do the same create a shortcut and append the target line with the Com port in properties as you do with the main control panel firmware file.
Do you see any specific error message when running the software?
I am trying to update the firmware on my TS1. I have followed all the instructions and I stuck at the first screen. It’s not detecting the keypad on the computer and won’t start the firmware upgrade.
I am undoing the power on the back of the unit am I missing something?
Are you running the TS1 firmware file, not the main control panel one?
There is a separate firmware file for TS1 version 1.16 which should be in the zip contents.
If you are, have you ever used the update cable on that PC before or is this the first device you are trying to update? If it hasn’t been used on that PC before, run the driver install exe first, which is in the same zip folder.
Are you using the four pin adapter for the TS1? If you are using the cable on an older TSI using the four pin adapter, the cable must be facing a specific direction noted in the update instructions. If the cable is flipped upside down (reversing the pins) the update won’t work.
It also can’t be held in place, if you are using the adapter, I remember the connection being loose. It will angle naturally.
So that we can best assist, mind sharing a photo of how you have that cable connected to the TS1?
I am using the extra four prong adaptor. I have tried to hold it down and everything still nothing.
What if in the old box the battery is connected and the take345 is still powered up.
All I am doing is just unplugging the red wire from back, plugging the cable in, starting the software and then reattaching the red wire.
That should work right?
Can you do an auto update on it?
I have tried to hold it down and everything still nothing.
See above, it cannot be held down in place, this will typically cause a failure. The cable must be left to angle so it can firmly touch the edges of the input holes on the board. It’s not a great design by 2GIG, more of a bandaid to allow updates of the older style TS1.

The TAKE345 has no impact or connection to the TS1

This is not recommended. Pulling energized wires from the back of the keypad makes it very easy to short out the board, even if you are being extra careful. Always unplug the keypad’s power supply from the outlet it is plugged into to remove power.
