So I am trying to add a Zooz zen51 dry contact relay switch to my Qolsys IQ2 panel in order to control an exterior light that does not have a switch. I have many zooz products on my panel (including this same relay switch) but I am unable to add this relay to my panel. When I try to include it, the panel will find the device and I can scan the zwave code and name the switch, but then it states that it failed to connect with the switch even though I can see it in the device list. I can see the device when I delete/clear the device but it always states that it fails to connect…then says it successfully connects…and it never shows up for me to be able to control. Any suggestions would be helpful. I have tried to delete/clear the device to start again but it is always the same.

I’m a little confused on this, at what step in the process are you seeing “successfully connects” ? What do you mean you can see the device? Do you mean that the panel finds it when listening for devices to clear, or do you mean you see it in a list on the panel?
Can you try adding that device again, and post a photo of any error message you get on the panel? Do not clear the device if it fails yet, I’d like to see if there are any back end reports to ADC.
Good morning, Jason. No…the device never shows up in ADC. During the inclusion process I successfully get to where it asks me to confirm the particular device by scanning the QR code or entering the 5 digit code unique to that device. Then the panel just processes for a while and finally says that the device failed to connect and to try again. But then when I hit the button to acknowledge the notice it says that the device has been successfully connected. The only way that place that I can find in the panel that the device has connected to the panel in some sort of way is when I go to delete/clear device. I can find the device and then clear it to start over. I will try to add the device again when I get home. Currently it should still be added (#25?).
Also…both of the the relay switches I have installed are shown as a “water valve” and I am unable to change it to a “light”. Is there a way for me to change the device type?
There is no way to manually change the device type of the Z-wave devices. The type is based on how they report parameters. The Zooz Zen51 devices are not officially supported.
It sounds like your switch is failing secure S2 inclusion each time. When re-adding, use the 5 digit DSK string instead of the QR code.
Yes…I have tried both the QR code as well as the 5 digit DSK. Could it be a faulty device?
That is certainly possible. If you have other Zen51’s working on the panel I would not expect any difference from this one.
Does this particular Zen51 have a newer Z-wave radio version? Can you compare the labels?
