Two Rogue Sensors Not Working

Hi All,

First let me say I’ve been a very happy Surety customer. I’ve really been enjoying my experience. That said all of the sensors have been working flawlessly except for two wireless door sensors.

  • I use a QOL SYS IQ2 running 433MHz
  • The two sensors in question are DSC WS4945
  • The sensors are about ten years old

Sometimes when I open the doors, the tone does not sound and the event does not happen. Other times, it does sound and registers. When I arm it, the system has to bypass the sensors if it thinks they are open (even if the door is closed). Furthermore, they will randomly go “offline” at times throughout the night.

Things I’ve tried:

  • Removing battery and adding it back
  • Removing sensors and repairing

Things I still need to try:

  • Replace battery
  • Replace sensor

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

This is very common behavior for a sensor with low battery levels. Attenuation issues can be exaggerated when battery levels are lower, resulting in missed signals.

The first thing to do is replace the batteries.
