I have several hardwired smoke alarms that were recently set off by kitchen smoke. My system is a Qolsys IQ Panel2 with Firefighter 345 connected. It worked as it should be calling the alarm in etc. The problem I had is how do I reset or make the alarm stop? I entered my code at the panel which I believe stopped the Firefighter. How do I reset the hardwired alarms though?
AC Powered smoke detectors may not need a manual reset. Were they still going off? If so a reset or hush button is often found on the face of the detectors depending on the model.
Regarding reset of a smoke detector, you would need to know the model to be sure of exact steps needed, but for common Kidde detectors (and steps that can be performed on many models) see this page.
The initiating alarm was the one nearest the kitchen. I did press the reset/hush button but it failed to do anything. In reading the page which you linked I think the alarms just stopped after 8 minutes. It seemed much longer than that but it may have been 8 minutes.
I have the Kidde KN-COSM-IBA 21006377A.
