When you hit the test but on the 2gig smoke detector should the panel alarm along with the smoke detector? Thanks!
Pressing the test button will not immediately set off a fire alarm at the panel. The button must be held through two audio cadences of the sounder before the alarm signal is sent to the panel. This is about 8 seconds or so.
Note that while that test will tell you the detector is communicating with the panel and is important, this does not tell you the smoke detector itself is functioning properly. The best way to test smoke detectors is with canned smoke. See this thread.
