We just moved to a new home and brought all of our 2gig equipment with us including our takeover module. The system appears to have been installed as the home was built as the sounder is built into the wall on the main floor. The panel is in the basement and the key pads are in the kitchen and bedroom.
If I was putting the 2gig touch panel in the basement, where the sounder trigger wires terminate at the old panel, there wouldn’t be a problem… but i’m not.
How can I “relay” the sounder trigger wires from the basement to the 2gig panel upstairs? Could I somehow use one of the remaining 2 zones on the take over module not in use? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
This is going to be a little tricky. The siren requires 12 volts if it was hardwired. The Takeover module only accepts INPUTS from existing sensors and does NOT OUTPUT 12 volts for a siren trigger. You will likely have to extend the existing siren wires to where you are locating the 2gig panel and connect it to the terminals labeled -Bell and +Bell on the rear of your 2gig panel.
There could be another way to remotely do this but I am unfamiliar with any compatible equipment that is set up to do this easily. Maybe another support staff member has an alternate idea. They will reply to you shortly

Just to clarify, you wouldn’t be using the canned panel installed at the property to sound alarms or provide any logic if you are using the 2GIG Panel. The 2GIG Panel determines siren activation.
There is a way you could reuse hardwired sirens if they are low current piezo sirens. See the attached image pulled from the 2GIG panel manual. It shows how to use the bell output on the 2GIG panel.
The 2GIG panel will not be able to drive a high current siren or a speaker, just piezo sounders. (These are most common though)
If you have any questions about what was pre-installed, can you provide the model number of the sounder you are looking to integrate? We’d be happy to help look into it. If unsure on the model, please post a photo of the product sticker, typically found by opening the siren from its mounting plate.
One more option that you have is a Z-Wave Wireless siren. I think the one I have is made by go control. It’s relatively loud and includes a flashing light. I haven’t mounted outside and a dry location. So you can always look into an accessory like this. Won’t be as loud as a bullhorn, but it’s loud enough to be a deterrent and alert Neighbors
