Considering a 5604 for my garage. I read the article on connecting it, and seems straightforward.
My question is: Do these type of mechanical detectors also have a fixed lifespan (like 6 or 10 years)? And if not, miles down the road, how do we know when they need to be replaced?

I just asked this question to Honeywell System Sensors tech support and they said since it is a mechanical heat, it can last many many years. He said there is no fixed lifespan on them but it is recommended to swap them out every 10 years.
I would write the date of installation on the back of them them with a sharpie and and change it 10 years down the road.
That makes sense. I will do that.
