Hi -

I’m currently an (alarm.com) customer. I live in California. Is it easy to sign up alarm.com service through SuretyDIY?

I’m also interested in adding video with motion detection to the system for indoor and outdoor. What’s the recommended hardware? I have a Qolsys panel and a bunch of Interlogix sensors.

This topic has been discussed before here in more detail. Let’s see if we can’t get to the basics here.

Qolsys panel cell modules cannot be removed from the panel. If the company you are currently with will not release it then you will need to buy a new panel. This is something you would have to discuss with your current provider. You can confirm when your module is able to be used by using our module check tool here.

In order to find the cell module number on a Qolsys IQ you will need to go to Settings->Installer Code-> About-> Scroll down to find IMEI/MEID->The 15 digit number directly below this is what you are looking for.

For video monitoring you’ll need Alarm.com branded video cameras. Alarm.com cloud video can be stand alone or as an add on with any plan through suretyDIY. Those plans are laid out here.

My current provider will release IMEI once I cancel the service. A few questions before I switch:

  • If I cancel with current provider, and signup with SuretyDIY same day, will the transition be almost seamless?
  • I live in California, SuretyDIY is in Ohio (?), will the Central Station location make any difference?

Orders are generally processed within one business day (M-F, 9am-5:30pm EST) of submission. That being said, if you’re ordering service for an existing system it is often much faster than that. The exact time can depend on how many orders are being processed ahead of yours, how early in the day you submit your order, and how easily data entry is able to confirm jurisdiction with your local officials. Generally service orders place in the morning of a business day will be processed the same day. Once your order is processed, you will be sent a welcome email with next steps and log in information.
