I have an existing hard-wired NetworX NX-8V2 security system in my house. I would like to disconnect my current central monitoring and switch to self-monitoring via Alarm.com. Does your store sell the equipment I need to connect to Alarm.com and can you guide me through the process?
The Networx NX-8V2 is compatible with Alarm.com. However, you will first need to determine if the Cellular Module in your main panel is 2G or 3G. 2G Cellular Modules are no longer supported by Alarm.com and you will need to upgrade to a 3G module in order to use this service. The attached documents will help you determine which cellular module you have as well as how to install the cellular module in your panel.
While we do not sell the 3G module you could find one online. The NX-400-US-VZ is the Verizon module and the NX-400-US-AT is the AT&T. Use this tool to check which could give you the best possible coverage in your area.
Once you have obtained the appropriate module or determined that you have said module, you will want to decide which monitoring package is right for you. We offer the Basic Interactive and Gold Interactive monitoring packages. These can be purchased with, or without, Central Station Monitoring. Sadly, we do not already have a cellular module. It looks like I’ll have to get and install one of my own. I’m finding it pretty difficult to locate a NX-400-US-xx for retail purchase. Is it an older version of NX-592E-GSM-ZX-xx?
According to the instructions, the dealer needs to register the module & create an Alarm.com account for the user prior to installation/first use. Can you guys help me with that? I’m torn between the Basic and Gold Interactive. Can I upgrade to Gold if I find that I need more than the Basic?
No, it’s a version without Z-wave I believe. If you feel you might want automation as well, the NX-592E would be fine. Verify it is 3G from the seller (though it looks like this model number is)
