Hi,
I have a 2GIG panel that was installed and serviced by CPI but not any longer. They would not give me the installer code to reset the panel even though I can get into the toolbox setting.
I am looking to buy your https://suretyhome.com/product/2gig-switch-to-diy-kit/ to unlock the current panel and use your service. I had a few questions before i place the order:
Once i get the verizon module (checked my address with your coverage tool) from you and swap out the current At&T module with it and perform the cell test with your service, will you be able to reset Q43, and unlock Q44 and Q45?
I understand the module card is not locked to SuretyDIY if i activate it with you and later decide to go with another monitoring company? Is that correct?
I understand that there is no contract so can i start and stop monitoring service with your company as many times as needed without any penalty?
Any legal issues with my switching as long as i own the system?
Will CPI know that the system is being used not through them?
Welcome to the suretyDIY forum! Lets see if we can’t help you out.
1. Once i get the verizon module (checked my address with your coverage tool) from you and swap out the current At&T module with it and perform the cell test with your service, will you be able to reset Q43, and unlock Q44 and Q45?
Yes that is correct. Once the new module is installed commands will be sent to reset the installer code and unlock Q44 and Q45.
2. I understand the module card is not locked to SuretyDIY if i activate it with you and later decide to go with another monitoring company? Is that correct?
We do not lock out the cell modules even if you leave suretyDIY.
3. I understand that there is no contract so can i start and stop monitoring service with your company as many times as needed without any penalty?
Since service is month to month you can change your plan at any time. You may want to check out our General Policies for more details.
4. Any legal issues with my switching as long as i own the system?
5. Will CPI know that the system is being used not through them?
These would be questions that you would want to direct to your current service provider.
Regarding #5 – after changing out the comm panel, how can it communicate with CPI? Any comments?
Switching the module would remove the panel’s capability to communicate with the current provider back-end, yes, but it does not ensure they stop looking for signals from the prior module if your account with them is still active.
Do you still have monitoring through your current provider? If so you would want to contact them regarding cancellation.
Hi Jason, thanks for responding. No current monitoring, the account was in the name of the previous homeowner and was cancelled when we purchased the home.

Ah, if that is the case you should be fine with the swap.
If the prior service used Alarm.com and the accounts were cancelled, you can check the current module number here to see if it can be reused.
Custom programming only refers to full systems ordered through our website (Panel, communicator, sensors, and service)
Since this is utilizing an existing panel, it does not apply. A standard template is instead sent for existing 2GIG panels upon connecting to our service which opens programming to the user and defaults the installer code.
