Ah! I think I know what the PC Controller is: I had tried to add a USB Z-wave stick as a secondary z-wave controller this summer but removed it when I read that Qolsys IQ4 panels wouldn’t allow such (at least with the firmware I had at the time). Somehow, the latest firmware must at least recognize that I had tried to do so and is - at least - now “smart enough” to warn me that the Z-Wave stick is no longer present. I’ll need to re-tag that device with a better name so that it is easier to diagnose. Perhaps, I’ll also now see if the latest Qolsys IQ4 firmware allows more than one Z-wave controller.
I’m still a huge fan of the Qolsys IQ4! I just don’t work with it enough to immediately and intuitively know what might go wrong, but can usually figure stuff out given more time. Now - as time permits - to work on the second problem of the WiFi for the remote…
Secondly, why does my IQ Remote (different than the IQ4) not pass the Network Test?
Is your IQ Remote connected to your panel over your home wifi? If it is connected via your home wifi, there are a number of potential causes of disconnects. Most commonly it is when using the same SSID for both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz network bands.
Alternatively you can connect the IQ Remote directly to the panel access point via the IQ Panel 4 access point mode under Settings > Advanced Settings > Installation > Devices > Wifi Devices > Access Point Settings… This will eliminate your wifi as the LAN connection.

That would be it. I see you have a device labeled that in your list.
Hi @KMHOWNR , Could you point me towards any info you may recall about adding a secondary zwave controller to the IQ4? I’m wanting to do the same on my IQ4 and running into challenges as you might imagine. Looking for some official word and non-official stories of success. Thank you!
Does not look too promising. But we can keep experimenting and using AI (with references like Perplexity provides) to keep constantly digging deeper and contributing ourselves.
Thank you. I am a user of AI for many things but have not used Perplexity before. I appreciate the share. I do also agree about “carefully use” - I have enough grey hair to know that AI sometimes overlooks important details and other times comes to incorrect conclusions and source data often needs to be verified. Thanks again.
Jason, thank you. I did read that and actually had that working for a short time but ran into a host of flaky issues just as the author suggested. I was actually trying to do this the other way - where the IQ was primary and another controller (HA, Z-Box, etc) was secondary.
I have a Zooz USB on the way and plan to dive into this more once it arrives. So far my test lab only has a Smartthings and a Z-box for testing. With the stick I can get into PC Controller and HA… Good times.
