Slow Push Notifications to Android Phone

I have a Qolsys IQ2 Panel sending notifications to my phone (I’m assuming it just sends the notification to alarm.com and this is relayed to my phone). I’ve noticed over the past few months that notifications for doors being opened can take well over 3 minutes to be relayed as a push notification (however, the panel itself gets the notification as usual). Is there any way to fix this delay?

Push notifications are sent from the Alarm.com server directly to the app using a data connection to send the information through Apple’s (APNs) or Google’s (GCM) push notification cloud service APIs. As long as the device has a strong and consistent internet connection, push notifications should arrive within a few seconds after being sent.

Can you identify a specific time stamp on a notification that arrived late? I can look at the history and determine if there is any issue.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the reply. Here’s a recent notification of mine that was 3 minutes slow: the Patio Door at 2:27 PM, 2/22/22 in alarm.com. This was actually opened in quick succession after the previous opening, so should actually be displayed as 2:24 PM. This is confirmed in the panel as well, as 2 open/closes at 2:24 PM. The delays seem to usually be about 3 minutes.

That’s what I assumed the issue would be. That is normal.

There is a 3 minute delay between when Alarm.com activity will register the same signal again from the same sensor for activity monitoring while the system is disarmed.

Repeatedly opening a door or window will not repeatedly log to ADC and will not repeatedly send notifications.

If you open the door once, then close and open it 20 times, you will get one more notification 3 minutes later roughly.

Hi Jason,

Got it, I just checked again and it seems like doors/windows are snappy in their push notifications as you said. However, my motion sensors seem to be slow, even when it has been a while since their last trigger. Is there a way to make it so motion sensors instantly send a push notification?

Motion Detectors have a longer activity delay. Those will remain active in activity monitoring status for an hour before returning to idle. Status in the app then tells whether activity has occurred within the past hour.
