Slim Door/Window sensor

I have a window/door sensor that keeps telling me its open. I have checked it and everything appears fine. I pulled the sensor apart and removed the batteries thinking it would reset the sensor it didn’t. Any thoughts? Should I order another and send it back? When I pulled the sensor it did trigger a tamper alert so its communicating still…

Based on the sensor description for the sensor showing as open currently, it would likely be on another level of the home and may be farther from the panel. How long has this sensor been installed? When did it start reporting open?

If the sensor has been installed for a while, usually a couple years or so, and is far away from the panel or has metal nearby, borderline low battery may be affecting signal strength.

The first thing I would suggest is replacing the batteries if the above is true.

If that is not applicable or does not resolve the issue, remove the sensor from the wall and hold it about a foot from where it is installed, open and close it with the magnet. Does the sensor properly report? If so you likely have an environmental issue where the sensor is mounted. A repeater can boost signalling and overcome most issues like this.

Jason thanks for the post. The sensor as a straight line is no more than 20’ at most though the floor. Its maybe 6 months old tops. There are sensors on windows further away than this door. I do need to get some batteries for sensors that are reporting low battery.

Did you get a chance to try removing the sensor from the wall and trying to trip it about a foot or so away from where it was mounted?
