I need to upgrade to an LTE Verizon module in my Simon XTi , and was told that XT-510-US-VZ is what I need. Can I also use XT-511-US-VZ-LTEUP instead and have it communicate with my alarm.com ap on my phone instead of having to get the 510? What’s the difference between the two?
XT-510-US-VZ is the standard model number. XT-511-US-VZ-LTEUP I believe is designated for a special upgrade program and those modules can only be sold to dealers and can only be used for upgrades rather than new activation.
Ask your dealer before trying to use an XT-511-US-VZ-LTEUP. I would only recommend buying one from your own dealer.
I’m trying to avoid the high markup on the XT-510 when I can simply install an XT-511. This would be an upgrade, and yet the 3rd party monitoring company is trying to sell me an XT-510 for $199 when I can just buy a perfectly good functioning XT-511 it seems. I installed my system myself and use the alarm.com app. If the 3rd party monitoring company says they can’t support it, I’ll just use another monitoring company. All that matters is that it works in the Simon XTi and alarm.com ap as I can always switch monitoring companies.

To clarify, this is the standard priced version. I cannot speak regarding what any company chooses as their price point, but the XT510 is the standard module.
The upgrade only model is a special dealer program created by Alarm.com, they are purposely discounted because there are limitations applied to what they can be used for. They are more applicable to individuals under long term contract. They are not conducive to at will cancellation and account changes that we promote.
For example, if you cancel service and either try to activate later or a new owner tries, I believe they will not be able to activate service with that upgrade module.
We have never sold upgrade program only modules due to the limitations applied to them.

Your current provider must either support swapping the module to the XT-511 or they must transfer your existing ADC account to a dealer who would. Not all dealers support account transfer.
You cannot activate new service with an XT-511. The XT-511 can only be assigned to an existing Alarm.com account which has a 3G module currently.
So if you cancel your current service, then try to activate elsewhere, an XT-511 could not be used.
