But if I legit set off another detector by lighting a paper towel, why would only those be what triggers the panel? That would be telling me only if half my house is on fire and the other alarms are just to tell me if I’m in the house

And there isn’t a test button on those units. Do I change my sensor to a zone?

The 120VAC smoke detectors are not compatible models and never would have been monitored via the Hardwire Translator or other alarm panel by themselves. They are not connected to it. They cannot interface with it.

The two 2W-B sensors were likely installed as supplementary. Test with smoke.

The Hardwire translator does not output 120VAC. Those First Alert smokes are connected directly to your main electrical panel.

You can monitor 120VAC interconnected smokes, but not with the Hardwire Translator. The audio detector below can be used to monitor the whole circuit of 120VAC smokes.
