Hello. I have a bunch of sliding windows on my main level. There seems to be some metal near them that affects them (maybe it’s the siding on the outside of the house). I’ve been able to get the IQ mini sensor to work on all but the largest window, which just seems to be too affected by the metal to get the sensor to work.
Is there a chance the PowerG might work better? Or are these wireless sensors just not going to work in general for this large window. Just wanted to get an official opinion before I drop $41 on the PowerG.
I suggest just getting one and if it doesn’t work, return it. Keep the packaging in new condition and test it by holding it in place rather than mounting it to the window so that you can return it if necessary.
PowerG has a much wider range, and if the issue is borderline it would likely have much improved behavior. All RF signals are affected by metal, so a combination of using PowerG and re-orienting the sensor may be needed. You could also try a spacer to lift the sensor off the surface just a bit, which is often enough to help.
