SEM 300: Internet/Broadband connection

Hi, just installed the SEM 300 on my Vista 20p. It went smoothly and is communicating properly with my alarm.com app via cellular connection.

I would like to add a broadband connection as backup. Obviously, I know to plug in an Ethernet cable from my router panel, but are there any other necessary steps or programming to make it work properly?

The install instructions I used mention the Ethernet option, but it seems like they are incomplete. Can someone please point me to instructions for using Ethernet with the SEM?
Thanks

Hello,

It should just be using the pigtail and connecting it to your router. If by any case it does not pick up an IP address, the panel and cellular communicator may need to be power cycled. This is done by unplugging the panels transformer followed by the backup battery. Wait about 30 seconds. Then connect the battery first followed by the transformer.

I just ran a test on your panel and it looks like cellular is successful but broadband failed. Do you have it connected to the internet with an ethernet cord?

Thanks so much. I haven’t hooked up broadband yet; waiting for a longer cable. Just wanted to make sure there wasn’t more to it.

Once connected, you can let us know and we can run a broadband test for you to make sure it is working properly. It should automatically pick up an IP but in rare cases you would need to perform a power cycle.

Thank you

Thanks, I definitely will test the connection. Appreciate the great support!

Hi, I have hooked up an Ethernet cord to the SEM. Would it be possible for you to see if my broadband connection looks good from your end?

Thanks!

It looks like it has successfully connected to your internet. It still uses cellular as a main form of communication but will use Wi-Fi as backup.
