Looking for a good recommendation for a diy self monitor security system. Want to avoid having to have a internet connection but want to be able to have a keypad door lock that disarms the security system. If internet is required would be fine but still need the door lock to disarm the system if there is a internet outage. Atleast 1 or 2 programmable outputs would be a plus. Currently have a Simon XT without a z-wave module. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Happy to help! All compatible alarm panels which use Alarm.com use a primary cellular communication method. Broadband internet dual path is an optional feature for some compatible panels but not required.
suretyDIY is an Alarm.com service provider. For a general overview of how our service works, see this page. You can find our monthly service plans compared here.
To use the existing XT (shares the same modules with XTi) this page will go over how to get started with suretyDIY.
suretyDIY subscriptions can be purchased with or without 24/7 monitoring, so if you are looking to use notifications and automation to self-monitor, and create automation rules through Alarm.com, you could choose Alarm.com Gold Interactive and opt out of monitoring.
On the Simon XT/XTi, the Z-wave radio is found on the Alarm.com communication module, and automation is set up through Alarm.com. With a compatible lock you could indeed set up a rule to disarm the alarm system with a z-wave door lock.
Thanks I appreciate it. Does any broadband alarms not require alarm.com and have the ability to mave send emails? Was Hoping to run offline as much as possible other then for it to send emails/notifications.
