I have a Qolsys IQ2 panel , Alarm.com and Schlage ZWave and ZWave plus Connect locks there were existing. After putting the panel into Installer mode with the default code it requires (1) Clearing the lock as a ZWave device from the IQ panel (2) using the program code to put the lock in program mode (3) following the pairing prompts on the panel. And its added and shows up in the panel. Pretty easy to do. All my locks were existing locks that someone else had in the house so they were paired or not paired at one time and I’m not sure of the history there. They work standalone and with the codes on the back.
Model BE469 Works fine- I think this is a ZWave. It goes right in to the system and works with Alexa using “Ask Alarm.com” voice commands. Followed the easy procedure and it goes right in.
Model BE469ZP Won’t work right - I think this is a ZWave PLUS and has an Enroll button unlike the other one. Firmware version 0.0.9.
The ZP model binds in a similar manner but there are additional prompts that come up on the IQ2 panel. When binding the 469ZP on the panel a message states “S2 Node is requesting following S2 security” and has a check box “S2 Access” that can be checked. It also launches the camera on the panel (I guess to record who is editing the panel) and it prompts for another 5 digit code in front of what looks like a MAC Address string that will take anything you type. It eventually has a message that says " The device failed to pair in securely. Please remove and restart the inclusion process to include the device securely - Status Code: 515" . All of that removal and re-doing stuff loops to the same issues. It eventually goes into the panel and looks like the other one (naming it, editing it, etc) but won’t show up on Alarm.com and I don’t think it works on the panel at all.
What is the message reference to “S2” ; a Zwave PLUS acronym ? What is the 5 digit code in front of the MAC address IP6 looking string of numbers? what is the launching the camera all about? What’s the secret here?
S2 or Security 2 is a Z-Wave protocol on certain Z-Wave Plus devices, like the BE469ZP. When enrolling that Z-Wave Lock into the panel, the panel should ask for a DSK key, which is printed on the lock or the box the lock comes in.
Additionally, to be compatible with the the Qolsys IQ panel 2+, the BE469ZP must have a manufacture date of December 2019 or newer. There should be a sticker inside the lock that shows the manufacture date.
As A follow up to help others; The version of my Z wave plus was older. So I bought a new lock.
The DSK code is not on the lock. It’s on a sticker that comes with it that was in the box. It also appears to be accessible from a QR code that is on the box.
It was able to do all the pairing add about 10 feet from door with no problem. Put the panel in to add ZWave mode first then put the programming code in the lock followed by “0”. At first, all the pairing and everything seemed to be done correctly and the lock added securely. (Previously it gave me a message that said it was not added securely because of the missing DSK) Then Alexa did not recognize the lock name. “Alexa ask Alarm.com to lock the front door” …” I did not find a lock with that name“ . I tried other complicated things overthinking it which didn’t work . This was fixed by simply using one of the added access codes and manually locking and unlocking the door one time. The Alexa found it via Alaram.com
Also, I’ve noticed that forgetting to say “Ask Alarm.com” in front of any lock command automatically find the first lock there is an alarm.com and defaults to commanding that lock or door . “ Alexa lock the front door” instead of “Alexa ask Alarm.com to lock
the front door” defaults to a WiFi gate lock I have on Alexa directly…”closing the driveway gate” every time. I’m not sure what to do about that yet. Do all locks have to go through alarm.com?
