S40-T Only first to add is recognized

Hello.
I just purchased and installed the ADC-T40K-HD Tstat. That installed with no issue.
But I also purchase three temp sensors - ADC-S40-T

The first temp sensor joined Z Wave with no issue, was identified as a temp sensor and all is well.

If I add any additional temp sensors, they all connect as “other device” rather than a temp sensor. And then eventually give me a low battery warning on the panel. ?

I’ve tried removing and re-adding from both the IQ4 panel directly and via the alarm.com app to no avail. Actually at one point my panel was stuck at the “please wait for config details” for over 10 minutes and I had to reboot it via alarm.com to get it back.

I even tried adding the sensors in a different order (and even before and after the t-stat was setup) and it is always the first one to be added is recognized, but any subsequent come in as “other device”.

Any idea what I’m doing wrong here? Thank you!

Update: I now have all three sensors working!

I was adding these by entering the PIN, rather than using Smartstart because I could not get the QR code to scan.

I then blew up the QR code to 200% of size on my copier, and tried to add a second sensor and it worked! Then I noticed a ‘malfunction’ on the first sensor (that I added via Pin previously.)

At that point I deleted all three sensors, did a factory reset on the sensors themselves, and then re-added all via Smartstart (via my 200% QR codes), and they all added correctly.

So, currently all is working. However I have an alert on one of them for a low battery. I suppose it is possible the battery is low even if brand new. I’ll try a new battery before I do anything else.

Thanks. Hopefully this post might help someone else in the future.

It is rare but it does happen, depending where it was purchased there may be older stock items or it could just be a bad battery. I would always assume a low battery report is true, rather than indicative of a fault and replace the battery to confirm.

Thank you for describing the steps you took, I haven’t seen that particular issue pairing temp sensors but I have been using the older S2000T models.

Update: I replaced the battery and that last sensor is now stable. All good!

(I also found an S2000T on ebay and added it for a garage temp sensor. That added super easy and is doing its job.)
