A few days ago, my IQ Panel 4’s built-in glass break sensor triggered a false alarm - and the alarm trigger perfectly corresponded to when my Roomba vacuum self-emptied. I wasn’t home at the time, and unfortunately, the police came to ensure it was a false alarm. A few questions:
Does anyone have experience triggering a glass break sensor because of a Roomba self emptying? Any recommendations for workarounds?
Does the panel record the sound / video when it thinks it hears glass break? Is there any way I can hear what triggered the alarm?
While I have never specifically seen a Roomba set off a glass break, its possible. While the glass break is “listening” for a specific frequency of glass breaking, other sources can generate a similar sound and set off a glass break. Dogs barking are a common example but other sources can trigger.
I’m not super familiar with Roombas but if its possible to set it to do that task at a specific time when your going to be at home and the glass break wont be armed, I would look into that.
As for sound recordings, no, the panel does not record the sound of the source when the panel glass break is triggered. Alarm videos are captured from the panel’s built in camera, but this is video only, no audio.
I just tested my IQ 2+ with software version 2.7.0 while armed away with Panel Glass Break and my iRobot Roomba j7+ with Cleanbase. It did not trigger the alarm.
