Hello, since I have purchased my new doorbell, I noticed there is this humming sound that occurs from my mechanical doorbell chime. I have read that in order to help dissipate that sound, a resistor can be used. What resistor can be used - is it the 10 watt, 10 ohm with 5% tolerance or is it 5 watt, 22 Ohm 5 Watt with 5% tolerance? I don’t know what the resistor’s specification was included in the box because I couldn’t seem to find it in there. Thank you.
According to a document I found, it is a “22 Ohm 5 Watt flameproof resistor with 5% tolerance” that is included in the box with the doorbell.
However double-check your transformer voltage as well (if you haven’t already.). I had strange issues and needed to replace my transformer and it solved all ills. (In my case I installed a 16V 10VA transformer, and used the resistor with the new transformer as well.)
