Relay? Power supply? IQ panel 2 & old siren

Hello,

I’m in the process of mounting my IQ panel 2 and I want to take advantage of an existing alarm siren.
The siren is an ATW FS-66 Dual Tone Flush Mount Siren with 100dB output, Specifications:
Operating voltage: 6 - 14 VDC
Sound output: 100 dB @ 12 VDC
Current draw: 400 mA @ 12 VDC
Dimensions: 6.35" x 5" x 1.6"

I’m assuming I cannot directly plug this into the IQ panel 2 and expect it to work. I"m sure it needs some sort of power supply or relay or something.
Can someone please tell me what I"ll need to buy to get it to work? (including wire gauge for 35 feet)

Thank you!

That is correct, the IQ Panel 2 does not produce voltage on its siren terminals. The terminals act as a relay to switch voltage to activate a siren.

Note that the max current draw supported is listed at 300 mA. This can be found in the panel manual on page 11. See the attached diagram.

To use more sirens or higher current draw sirens, a separate relay could be added, which is in turn triggered by the Qolsys panel siren relay.

Look at something like the RBSNTTL as an external relay which can support higher current draw. You would need a separate 12VDC power supply. 1A should be fine.

We typically recommend going with 18AWG for low voltage power purposes if you are running new wire.

I made a diagram to better illustrate for high current or multiple sirens. See attached.
