Hello. I’d like to get a ‘real’ outdoor temp on my panel. (IQ4)
I thought of using the S2000-T or S40-T, but they only show temp on the alarm.com app.
PowerG sensors seem to show the temp under the “Ambient” tab of the status page, so that got me thinking that a powerG sensor might be my answer.
Could anyone point me to a resource for more info on powerG sensors?
Do ALL of the powerG sensors show ambient temp, or is it only certain ones? (I only have one PowerG sensor - a PG9914 which shows LUX and Temp)
Would a PG9905 with remote temp probe meet my need? or would it only trigger on set thresholds?
What would be the least expensive way to get a temp to show up under “ambient” on the panel? (I’m not married to PowerG… anything showing the temp there is fine by me.)
My thought is that even if the sensor isn’t outdoor rated, I could nestle it under the soffit somewhere out of the direct elements and sunlight. But maybe that’s a bad idea.
Any other thoughts would be helpful. Thank you all.
[My wife actually asked for this, so I’d like to leverage her sudden interest in all this home automation ASAP, LOL!!]

This would be the way to do it. PG9905 reports the current temperature to the panel in addition to alarms at thresholds. Up to two PG9905 sensors can report temperature in Alarm.com for you. You can mount the PG9905 inside and run a probe outside.

No, it is a model specific capability. The PG9914 has a temp sensor, but it cannot be used outside

I would not recommend putting the sensors there. It is still exposed to humidity, temperature, etc. Only use outside rated sensors outside.
