Radio Test Failed - GC3 - AT&T module

Hi There.

I purchased the 2gig GC3 panel. AT&T and Verizon have full coverage according to your cellular coverage tool so I purchased the AT&T radio sled. I followed instructions for installing the cellular radio module. I have attempted multiple locations in my home and the Radio Test keeps failing.

The signal strength varies from 1/6 to 3/6.

Please advise.

It looks like service was not included with the order you are referring to. A location with a signal strength of 3 is fine, but without service your panel will be unable to communicate to ADC (the module has no associated account).

OK… If I add service to the device now, how long will it take to setup?

Technically all orders are subject to 1 business day for processing, but if ordering service only (no equipment) during business hours, it’s quick. Accounts are set up by Data Entry and you will receive a welcome email detailing the last steps to getting connected (largely the cell test)

What is the Wireless Module ID? FCC-ID or IC or Serial # or Subscriber ID

On the module itself it will be labeled ADC number on Verizon, IMEI on ATT.

In the panel under radio status it is listed as serial number.

Ok I have submitted the order to setup gold package service and I have completed the form. I received an email detailing the order # and the product order. I see the subscription # start date etc and when I click on the subscription # link, the status says active, however the related order # still states processing.

I assume that I’ll have to wait to receive another email stating the account is active… correct?

Yep, you’ll receive a “Welcome to suretyDIY” email which gives initial login info, etc.

I am about to install the 2gig-take-345 take over module…

I have watched the video showing how, but I have a question regarding this. Is it possible to leave the zones attached to existing security and also attach to the new system?

I have not yet canceled the existing security system and do not want to cancel until I have everything completely hooked up to new system.

Is it possible to leave the zones attached to existing security and also attach to the new system?

Technically I think yes, you could split each Zone wire and splice two wires off of each instead of one and hook up to both the old panel and the TAKE, off the top of my head I’m not seeing an immediate technical issue with that, but you would want to remove the second jumper entirely going to the old panel zone after confirming the installation. You could not have them trigger independently. Anytime the sensor opens, both panels would report.

Ok… all zones are setup on TakeOver Module…

Have another question…

Zone 1 on old system combined both front and garage doors. Not sure but I think that was done so that arming delay could allow for exit from either of those doors. I am wanting to split this zone to the specific location. There is an open zone on the old system.

To split would I do the following?
-Identify both front and rear door sensor wires.
-Find where those two wires were connected in series.
-Take apart this connection and the wire that is attached to the current zone 1 would need to be attached to the old boards ground for zone 1.
-The other wire that was disconnected should be attached to the open zone mentioned above.(Its ground wire is already attached to ground, but it is attached to zone 1 ground. DOES THIS MATTER?)

Thanks,

Yes, you would want to find where they are wired in series. Sometimes this will be down at the panel box, making it easy, but not always. If the house was pre-wired and sensors were wired in series in wall, you may only have two conductors coming back to the box.

If they are wired in series at the box, with two individual cables coming back to that spot, you would simply cut where they are wired in series and attach them to two different zones. One wire from each to GND. The remaining two wires to Zone 1 and Zone 2.

Its ground wire is already attached to ground, but it is attached to zone 1 ground. DOES THIS MATTER?

No. GND is GND, all connected (why you can leave GND wires in old panel for TAKE module. TAKE connects its power to the panel DC AUX GND.)

I successfully split the two doors into 2 zones… thanks.

I now have an interesting issue. Zone 6 of old system is a series of glass breakage sensors. Now both old and new security system show this zone as open. ( cannot arm without bypassing)

Is there special instructions necessary for attaching a glass breakage sensor to the takeover module?

Are these audio glassbreak sensors or window mounted shock sensors?

If they are audio detectors, they would be powered. They would be using four wires, two for the detection circuit, and two for power from the old panel aux output. Check to make sure the power wires were not removed.

These are audio glass break sensors…I’ll check the power wires now.
