On my GC3 panel with the VZ module, I’ve been seeing period but somewhat frequent “Radio Modem Network Failures” over the past few weeks. This seems to have started randomly as the panel has not been moved (wall mounted) or otherwise adjusted. I’m very near a large downtown so signal shouldn’t be fluctuating and causing issues. Any other ideas? Perhaps a failing radio?
Looks like communication was consistent and solid up until a couple weeks ago where there was a sharp drop.
Was any work done on the GC3 at the end of September? Any storms/outages?
Can you try powering down the GC3 completely, remove and reinsert the cell sled making sure it is firmly attached, wait a couple minutes, then power back up and run a cell test?
I’ll give that a shot tonight. Nothing too unusual over the past few weeks. Some storms here and there, but nothing else in the house has been effected. Very unusual.
Any luck with this?
Did a cell test before the process outlined above. Saw an error about not receiving ACK but it succeeded. After powering off, removing and reinserting the cell module, then power on the cell test is failing.
Repeated the test a few more times and it succeeds now. Not sure whats wrong at this point.
Unfortunately there is no comparable process at the panel to force re-registration of a module like there is with the GC2.
I’m awaiting a call from ADC to look into the signalling. May have a module problem, but want to verify it is not a carrier issue first.
Well, getting conflicting reports about the re-registration process. ADC seems to indicate this may be possible.
Can you try the following:
Run three walk tests (System Settings - Installer Toolbox - Walk Test - Sensor Test) in a row, cancelling out of each immediately. Then run a cell phone test.
Wait a full ten minutes, then run another cell test.
Any impact?
Success both times. First time was very quick, second showed an ACK error but succeeded. Signal is showing 1/6 now though. Was 3/6 right after the reboot. Seems odd since I am in a very large metro.
We are sending a few more commands to see if we can determine a network cause and improve signal.
Can you run one more cell test now?
Just ran 2 more first time failed to ACK, second time success. 1/6 signal after bothg
We’ve sent a hard reset, check once more after the boot up. Let us know if that had a positive effect.
Just heard it say ‘system disarmed’ is it ready for the test?
Looks like it was, results:
Cell radio test started
Retrying connection
Waiting for CS response
Test step successful
Call CS to check reports
Success
Radio signal: 1 / 6 after test
Just ran a second test:
Cell radio test started
Waiting for CS response
Did not get ACK
Waiting for CS response
Did not get ACK
Resetting Radio
Cell Radio Module Status Not Detected
Did not get ACK
Acquiring network
Failed!
Test step successful
Call CS to check reports
Success.
It looks like the troubleshooting may have had the desired effect. Running a few signal strength tests, and all are coming back with a quality signal. We will monitor today. Keep an eye out for any drops. If the issue persists it is indeed likely the module causing the issue.
