I’d like to add security cameras and would like info on:
1- Which cameras work with my system (is any Wi-Fi camera capable of communicating w/ alarm.com?)
2- How do I set them up?
3- How does the pricing work? (Service $5month +?)
4- Is there a way to have videos saved to a local hard drive in my own house?
1- Which cameras work with my system (is any Wi-Fi camera capable of communicating w/ alarm.com?)
Alarm.com cloud video service requires cameras using Alarm.com firmware. Compatible cameras can be found on this page.
Those sold on suretyDIY.com include the latest models: ADC-V522IR and ADC-V722W
2- How do I set them up?
The setup process is performed through your Alarm.com account on the Video page. There is a step by step wizard for camera setup. Instructions to connect the camera to wifi are included with each model.
3- How does the pricing work? (Service $5month +?)(Service $5month +?)
All add-on pricing can be found at the bottom of this page.
Cloud Video is available in levels, each level adding support for four additional cameras and additional cloud recording.
If you would like to add cloud video to an existing subscription, just let us know via secure message.
4- Is there a way to have videos saved to a local hard drive in my own house?
Local recording would require an Alarm.com SVR streaming video recorder. One SVR supports up to 8 cameras. SVR control through Alarm.com is also a $5/month data add on. More detail on the SVR can be found here.
I have two ADC-V720 camera’s that I got from you guys and would like to add two more to my system. Do I need to buy the video streamer if I want 24 hours of video continuously recorded, regardless if there has been an event.
In order to record 24 x 7 video with Alarm.com, you would need the SVR unit and the Streaming Video Recorder add on. This would be in addition to the Cloud Video add on as well.
We do not stock the SVR at the current time, however I can say it is available in 1TB and 2TB models. This determines whether it comes with 1 or 2 1TB HD.
Either way, there are two HD bays in each SVR, and each bay supports up to 2TB HD, so you can upgrade it yourself to 4TB total if desired. All configuration through your Alarm.com account.
