Question About ADC-V530 Onboard Recording and Privacy Shutter

Hello,

I have an ADC-V530 indoor camera configured so that the privacy shutter closes automatically whenever my alarm system is armed in Away mode.

I noticed that the only option for onboard recording appears to be “All the Time,” and I wanted to clarify how that behaves when the privacy shutter is closed.

Specifically:

  1. When the shutter is closed, is the camera still recording video continuously to onboard storage even though the image is physically blocked?

  2. If so, is it simply recording a blocked image? What I am seeing appears to possibly be a recording of the white translucent closed shutter itself rather than a completely black image.

  3. Does onboard recording continue to capture audio while the privacy shutter is closed? From what I can tell, it does not appear to be recording audio, but I want to be absolutely sure.

I would appreciate clarification on exactly what data, if any, is still being recorded while the privacy shutter is closed.

Thank you.

I’ll need to check with ADC on its exact behavior when it comes to onboard recording and the privacy shutter.

We’ll follow up here once we’ve got some more information.

Okay, I got some more information from Alarm.com.

Yes, the camera will continue recording video to the microSD card while the privacy shutter is closed. The recording will just be of the camera’s closed shutter. The video still consumes space on the microSD card, but it doesn’t take up as much storage during that time, since the image on screen isn’t changing.

No, Alarm.com has confirmed that the audio is not recording to the microSD card while the privacy shutter is closed.
