I’ve installed several of these in the past with no issues. Just received a few more recently and when I installed them, as soon as they were adopted by the panel and put on the ceiling they registered that there was a fire. Anyone ever seen anything like this? Could they just be defective?
I don’t think there was any dust. Here’s what I did:
Put the batteries in.
Adopted the device successfully.
Put it on the ceiling.
Walked over to the panel
Saw in the message area “fire” - the system didn’t alarm and call dispatch. It just showed “fire” in the area where messages like “door open” are listed.
There was no way to cancel it. I did this with two of the smokes and they both did the same thing.
Good questions. It looks like it was showing the “tamper” icon next to “fire”.
Because patience was never my strong suit, I just packaged em up and I’m sending them back to Amazon (I bought from them because I wanted them in a hurry - my mistake). I thought something was a little off when the packaging had all of the bar codes blacked out.
I just ordered 4 from Surety. Won’t be here as fast but I know they’ll be in good shape.
The only way to clear the trouble would be to make sure the tamper inside the sensor is being pressed in all the way and correctly. There is no way to disable the tamper on a sensor.
