Qolsys IQ2+ full programming functionality of PowerG sensors?

I know powerG sensors pair with the Qolsys panel, but are all programming functions available?

  1. PG9929 keyfob- I’d like to disable the panic button. Can I? Looks like it is possible based on the DSC manual but I don’t see that option when I learn the sensor to the Qolsys panel.
  2. PG9901 indoor siren- I’d like to enable chimes and adjust the siren volume. Both are options per the DSC manual but is this an option with the Qolsys panel? Are you able to disable chimes on the panel and just enable chime on the siren?

Not all parameters will be able to be adjusted on the IQ Panel 2+, I’ll need to look into these. I am checking with Qolsys for info regarding these sensors, and I will update here when we hear back!

Thanks! Adding to this, would like to disable the beeping on the keyfob as well.

Re: the siren- Is there any way to have the voice prompts from the pane (the nice lady who says armed away, etc) come through the siren?

There is no option to edit the parameters of the Keyfob, but note that the panic button press requires a 3 second press to avoid false alarms.

The panel supports chime, entry/exit beep capability and volume adjustment (Low, Medium, High) to PowerG indoor & outdoor sirens (PG9901 & PG9911) as of firmware 2.4.0. This wouldn’t extend to voice announcements.

Thanks for looking into this. I wish the Qolsys compatibility info sheet would more accurately reflect these limitations but I suppose that is neither here nor there.

I wonder if I could just remove the sounder inside the keyfob.

Jason- are you aware of a Qolsys IQ2+ compatible keyfob that allows for home and away arming but does not have a beep? Although i’d like to use PowerG, I guess it isn’t really necessary in this case as long as it is encrypted (I chose PowerG because our old system Simplisafe was so easily jammed but in this case jamming a keyfob wouldnt prevent our Qolsys alarm from being triggered).
Thanks!

If you have the 319.5 mhz radio version compatible with S-line, the QS1331-840 is a compatible S-Line option that does not beep at the keyfob and can be used for Away and Stay arming. You can find it here.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do have the 319.5 card installed and will pick up the fob you linked. We will just use the other keyfob soley as a panic.
On the panel it looks like you can select a few different zones for the PG9929 fob- 1) intruder, etc. I want to make sure that the panic button is set to police. Can you verify how to set this from the panel? Also, is there a was to designate a silent panic vs a panic with siren?

Thanks again for the helpful info.

Would you have a recommendation of the IQ smoke vs the DSC PowerG smoke detector? We don’t need the range of the PG sensor in this case and really just want the most reliable device without false alarms. Cost seems relatively similar.

Can you verify how to set this from the panel? Also, is there a was to designate a silent panic vs a panic with siren?

How the sensors will function with the panel is determined by the Sensor Group.

For police burglary response, you would want to select Sensor Group 1 Mobile Intrusion.

There is no way to select the Silent Intrusion sensor group for a keyfob at this time. Auxiliary Pendants (dedicated Panic Buttons) can be set to Sensor Group 2 Fixed Silent.

I would expect both to be reliable. The Power G will possibly outlast the IQ Smoke on battery life, but either way you’d probably only need to replace the batteries once in the device lifespan before it would need replaced.

The IQ Smoke would be fine if you don’t need the extras from Power G.
