Qolsys: How does combo IQ Smoke/Heat work in kitchens and garages?

It was my understanding that kitchen and garages should have heat-only detectors installed, as various cooking particles and car exhaust particles can set off a smoke detector.

I am considering the installation of a Qolsys Panel 2 Plus system in my home and note that Qolsys only offers combo smoke/heat detectors. How will kitchen and garage fumes not set these off?

Are IQ Smoke Detectors PowerWave, S-Line or something else?

How will kitchen and garage fumes not set these off?

You should not install any Smoke Detector in a kitchen or garage in general due to prevalence of false alarms.

There are no Power G or S-Line heat-only detectors, but there are other 319.5 options that are available and compatible.

For that purpose look at the 60-460-319.5-LB or the HDX-135 / HDX-200. These are compatible rate of rise heat detectors.

A brief bit of poking around on the Internet shows the 60-460-319.5-LB as “discontinued”. Is there an updated version of this heat detector?

Those are simply listed as compatible on Qolsys’s sensor list. If the 60-460-319.5-LB is discontinued, look at the HDX-135 or HDX-200 instead. The HDX-135 uses the same detection specifications, only it uses a CR123A lithium battery instead of a 9V.

Thanks for the info.
