Hi,
What’s involved with transferring service to a new owner when I sell the house?
From my end, I would just give them the master code and they would set their own access codes?
Thanks,
Walter
Happy to help. Note that for account data security, suretyDIY/Alarm.com accounts are not transferable.
If you are moving and a new owner is taking possession of the alarm system, I would recommend changing the Master Code to the panel default and giving that to the new owner, along with the installer code etc.
You would then want to schedule cancellation of your account by navigating to your account page - Alarm Subscriptions - View the subscription - Cancel Service.
The new owner can then purchase the subscription they wish to use online. Basic Interactive can be found here. Gold Interactive can be found here.
That makes sense, thanks. I set my account to cancel the day before the next draft.
Wow, you make it way too easy to cancel service. I thought it would be like Comcast where I spend about an hour on the phone with their customer service runaround. Just kidding, I knew you guys would be good to work with.
I will miss my service! But we’ll join again when I order a system for the new house. I have been extremely pleased with suretydiy and the alarm.com service. I had alarm systems before, but couldn’t make myself pay for a simple monthly monitoring service. But I think the automation and other perks that come with ADC are well worth the price!
Thank you for the kind words! And thank you for using suretyDIY. We look forward to assisting in the future, and good luck with the move!
We’re selling my Mom’s house in the next few weeks. I will follow the directions above but …
What state will the Qolsys 2+ panel be in after I cancel?
Will the panel keep all of the programmed sensors but just not have service?
When the new owners pick a service provider will they have to reset everything and re-enroll every sensor?
Thanks!

When service is cancelled, the Alarm.com account is terminated, so all scenes, notifications, rules, etc. will be gone. However, cancellation does not impact local panel programming, so sensors, z-wave devices, users codes would stay.

I cant speak for another service provider, but typically no.
Be sure to leave the new home owner the Master User and/or Installer Code so they can re-use the system. A cell test would need to be run to connect the panel to service again and one of those codes is needed.
Thanks Tyler! You guys are awesome as usual.
So if the new owner also selects Surety then I can just give them your Surety info and they can enroll the Qolsys 2+ panel into Surety and the sensors would just move over?
The sensors are door, tilt, motion, smoke, and CO.

Essentially. They would choose the service plan that best fits their needs from the service plans page and then they could create the new Alarm.com account through the Surety website.
They would need the 15-digit IMEI number to associate the panel with the Alarm.com account, and they would need the Installer or Master User code to run the cell test to connect the panel to service.
Device paired with the alarm panel (like DW, tilt, motion and life safety) would then populate in the ADC account (provided the choose a compatible plan like Surety Alarm, protect, home, or complete).
