PowerG Sensor Issues

Hi Surety I have some PowerG sensors (zones 24-29 on my system) that are approximately 600ft from the main IQPro panel in another building. Door status are not updating in ADC but it is also not saying there is a malfunction like it is with some smoke detectors in that zone range. Can you assist in seeing what the malfunction is with the smokes and also why the door senors are not updating status but are also not showing as out of range? Thanks!

Where is the IQ Pro located in the home? 600 feet is a distance PowerG is likely to cover, however attenuation from the signal travelling through materials will still affect the PowerG signal. If the panel is in a basement it might have trouble reaching a distant outbuilding.

Life safety detectors like smoke detectors by default have a 4 hour supervision window. Other sensors by default have a 24 hour supervision window. That would be a reason why some are showing malfunction and others not yet.

Judging by the status I see, zones 24-29 are showing no sensor signal strength data at all, which probably means they just cannot communicate where they currently are.

That’s what I was thinking as the panel is in the basement. If I purchase a PowerG extender and place on one of the upper floors do you guys think that will help?

Yes, if that is the issue I would expect a PowerG repeater on an upper floor above the basement to improve the signal capability. Look at the PG9920.

will i need to learn the sensors into the repeater or is PowerG smart enough to determine whether to learn into the repeater or panel directly automatically. I couldnt find any infomation online.

It should be plug and play according to Qolsys, however they say to try tampering the devices which cannot communicate currently. Tamper them 5 times each after adding the repeater.

Let us know if you have any continued signal issues after adding the repeater.
