I recently set up my Qolsys IQ 2 panel with PowerG. I have a PowerG sensor, PG9975 that I have added to my panel by manually entering the ID number of the sensor. The sensor appears to function normally and gives an alert on the panel when the sensor and magnet are separated.
My question is I am trying to run the PowerG sensor test on the Qolsys panel, but it doesn’t work. The test looks ‘greyed’ out on the screen and when I touch it there is just a message “PowerG Test supported sensors are not paired”.
Did I register the sensor wrong and the panel is somehow not seeing it for this test? Is there some other setting for the sensor for the PowerG panel test to see it?
Just curious, but I would like to know that everything is working correctly with the panel and sensors. I would appreciate help on this issue.
Hmm, I do see a Power G sensor successfully programmed on the system in question indicating a Power G signal source. If you have open close events from the sensor it should be good to go.
We will double check with Qolsys to see if there are any expected odd behaviors from that specific test function, settings which could cause this, or if it is not 100% functional yet. Will report back here when we hear from Qolsys.
Qolsys has confirmed that the PG9975 sensor works with the panel but does not work with the PowerG test at this time. No ETA is available at this time on when it would work with the PowerG test.
Tyler and Jason, thanks for looking into this and investigating. What is strange coming from Qolsys is that this PowerG panel sensor test doesn’t work. There are 2 videos within the last month (technical seminars) on Qolsys YouTube site that specifically highlight this test and there is no mention that it doesn’t work yet. The videos seem targeted for dealers and installation and explain how the test works and how to use it. Just seems weird to promote it as if it works in the videos, but tell you now it doesn’t work…???

The issue is that the panel does not register two specific models of power G sensor as actually connected and able to be tested, specifically and only with regard to the Test feature. They otherwise operate normally.
One is the model you use.
The test works for other models.
