I have IQ panel 4 and three WS9LCDWF power G keypads that were working fine previously. Recently I upgraded the IQ Panel to the latest firmware. The keyboards disconnect from the panel and have either a blank screen or say panel response not received. Pushing any of the keypad buttons does nothing except an occasional beep. Yesterday I deleted the keypads, removed their batteries, restarted them and re-added them to the panel. This seemed to resolve the problems, until today, the same issue has recurred with all the keypads. One keypad started to beep continuously for 20 minutes. It’s buttons and screen non functional. On another keypad, even with a blank screen, the green ready check mark appeared. I pushed the Away button and there seemed to be no response. Then after at least 5 or so minutes the system started to arm. No response from entering user code on the keypad so disarmed with the app on cellphone but even so, took about 30 seconds for the panel to respond. What gives? Is it the firmware upgrade? How to resolve this?
It appears that the WS9LCDWF9 was removed from official compatibility by Qolsys due to connection and communication delay issues between these models and the panel.
Unfortunately there are no steps to resolve this issue other than to replace the units.
Qolsys recommends the HS2LCDWF9 PowerG keypad or the IQ Remote IQR-PG as secondary keypad options.
You can find the most recent RF sensor compatibility guide here:
I would recommend the IQ Remote Power G. Surety has an excellent price on them and they are a nice upgrade creating a consistent UI across the house. We have 3 of these remotes plus the IQ Panel 4 in our house. Much more contemporary look and consistent user experience.
I now have HS2LCDWF9 keypads. I deleted the other keypads and enrolled these. None of them function. Either “panel response not received” right after enrollment or blank keypad screen later. Looking at IQ4 sensor status screen shows the keypads as “normal” or “active” after enrollment. Thoughts?
Do you have the HS2LCDWF9 keypads powered on battery only, or via a transformer?
Were they paired via Auto-Learn, or via manual enrollment?
What sensor Group is this learned in as?
Battery only, paired via Auto-,Learn, sensor group 0-Fixed Intrusion.
Blank keypad screen is normal when using battery only but the keypad should wake up and respond when pressed. Does it do this?
Does “panel response not received” occur on all panels or just a specific one?
Have you deleted and re-enrolled one as a test. If not, do so. Any change?
It seems to me that these recommended keypads are not actually compatible with my panel which is one of the first IQ4 released, even though it’s now on firmware 4.5. Please see the following and let me know what you think. The blank screen is with the screen awake and illuminated. I deleted all three and re-enrolled them and one is now communicating with the panel but only after it showed the panel as armed away when it was actually disarmed. Then after about a half hour it changed and shows the panel ready to arm. Now it will arm the panel in stay mode but won’t disarm it when I enter user code, instead it arms it away and shows “system ready to arm” even though it has armed the system stay at first then as away. The other 2 keypads were showing a blank illumined screen. Then about 45 minutes later one woke up by itself and showed the system as armed stay even though the system was disarmed. Now again a few minutes later it has a blank illumined screen with the red lock icon flashing as if the system were armed. The third keypad still shows a blank illumined screen when I wake it up. All were auto enrolled and accepted by the panel.
They are listed as compatible and I have not seen anything to suggest they arent meant to work with IQ Panel 4s of an older release date.
Were these new?
Do any of them behave correctly now that they have communicated?
I have reached out to Qolsys to see if they have any recommendations and will follow up once I have more information.
When enrolling and testing the keypads, how far from the panel are they?
Additionally, check the back of the keypad for its software. what is it? Are they all the same?
Should be on the back of the unit listed as HS2LCDWF9 VX.XX
If possible, connect a power supply to one of them and test to see if the issue persists as well.
They were listed as new, but “open box”. Two of them are v.1.30 and one is v.1.20. The one that communicated but incorrectly with the panel is v.1.30. The one with the blank illumined screen and flashing red armed icon is v.1.20 and the one with just blank illumined screen is v.1.30. I don’t have compatible power supply to try.
Thank you for that information and apologies for the delay. I have been in correspondence with Qolsys regarding this and I have an answer.
The software on the HS2LCDWF9 is too old and does not work with Qolsys IQ PAnel 4
The only wireless powerG keypad that works with the panel is HS2LCDWF9 on software 1.35 through 1.39 and on software 1.5 or above. Unfortunately, software on those units cannot be upgraded.
While I am unable to confirm, I have been told that new units of the HS2LCDWF9 should have 1.5 or 1.51 on them, which should work with the IQ Panel 4.
