Good evening, both of my door contacts failed at the same time this morning. Have gotten no battery alerts, they just suddenly failed at the same time with no warning. Named front door and side door if you take a look. Thanks in advance for the assistance.
Both sensors, the Front Door and Side Door are reporting a malfunction. The malfunction or offline trouble condition indicates the device, is having trouble communicating with the panel. This is caused when the regular supervision signals from the sensor to the panel are interrupted. This status can be persistent or intermittent.
Does sensor status report to the panel or ADC with triggering those sensors?
Common causes are below:
- Distance: Ensure that the sensor is within range of the alarm panel.
- Attenuation: Objects of home construction may be blocking the frequency transmission between the sensor and the panel.
- Metal (HVAC, wire, etc.)
- Large Appliances (TVs, Refrigerators, etc.)
- Mirrors
- Drained battery: Battery can be borderline low and not report a low battery to the system but still cause a malfunction.
Steps to resolve:
- Verify the sensor is installed well within range from the panel, and/or try relocating the sensor closer to the panel. With PowerG this shouldnt be a problem.
- Avoid large metal sources near the sensor or panel. What type of material is the sensor mounted to?
- Try changing the plane of the sensor’s wireless communication with the panel by rotating the sensor 90 degrees.
- Test batteries and replace if needed.
- Delete from programming, then re-add
