I purchased a pgo9976 smoke detector from you in early august to replace a smoke detector that failed for my dsc neo system. Just got around to trying to install it today and can not get my panel to accept the number on it. I tried both the main 7 digit number as well as the 7 digit fallback number. In all cases the panel complains about wrong device type.
I’m using the option to replace the existing device on the same zone which was also a smoke detector.
I found some indications online that the issue could be if my panel firmware version is too old since this is very new device. My current version is 1.37… and I guess the latest is 1.39…. I also saw something said you must update to 1.38’… before you can update to 1.39..: so a two step process.
Any ideas on if this could be the issue? Or is it something else. If it is maybe the version how can I arrange for an update.
Per DSC, the main DSC Panel has to be on minimum firmware 1.37. The RF Keypad has to be on minimum 1.35 but 1.5 is recommended. If the RF receiver is an HSM2HOST, then the minimum firmware needed is 1.31 but 1.35 is recommended.
Check which keypad number is your RF Keypad by

Can you check your RF keypad firmware version by:

scroll to the right to the correct RF keypad and press * then scroll to the right with the right arrow
You should be able to see the version the keypad is running.
When learning in the Smoke, follow the steps below.
If batteries are inserted in the smoke, remove and wait around 60 seconds for the device to discharge
Enter panel programming by pressing *8 + Installer code
Enter Section 804
Enter Subsection 000 - Keypad should say enroll now or enter ID
Insert the batteries on the smoke - there should be a chirp within the first 15 seconds of inserting your batteries.
Finish programming on the keypad.
Did the serial number display or was there a long beep on the keypad?
I checked and the primary keypad with the transceiver is model HS2LCDRFP and the firmware version is 01.31.01.01 which does not match the minimum version you indicated.
I tried enrolling the detector both using the auto enroll as described as well as manually keying in both the primary 7 digit id and the failback one and the keypad beeps but indicates wrong device type.
How can I update the keypad firmware to the version indicated as required?
I have the option to send it from my end. It may take a while to download to the panel. Once its fully downloaded, you must authorize the upgrade through [*][6][Master Code][17]. On LCD keypads, a message will be displayed that the upgrade is ready to apply.
It looks like it has been successfully sent to the panel. If you haven’t done so yet, can you authorize the upgrade by pressing [*][6][Master Code][17]

Unfortunately the detector still won’t enroll.
I tried the method of inserting the batteries so it sends the id as well as manually entering the id and the failback id. In all cases there is a long beep and the keypad says wrong device type type.
Confirmed it only shows one entry. I do have three keypads total. But the other two are wireless not hard wired and don’t have a power g transceiver. So this matches.
Are you receiving unknown device on the keypad or is the error actually showing wrong device type?
If you press 202 plus the 4 numbers for the smoke, is this where you get a long beep? What happens if you try typing in 202+1111. Do you still get a long beep?
I am replacing the existing detector which was zone 018.
So I am using 8* installer code then

entering either code whether the one starting 205 or 202 gives the long beep and error.
alternatively removing the batteries and then inserting them also gives me the same long beep and wrong device type error.
since the previous device on zone 018 was a smoke detector and the new one also is a smoke detector then I don’t see how this message makes sense unless it is some sort of firmware bug in either the keypad firmware or possibly the panel firmware.
I may have missed that section 921 part in previous messages. Since it is a different model number smoke, it cannot replace the sensor. It would first have to be deleted and then learned in through auto enroll.
To delete current zone 18:
