Panic Alarm (Silent) Protocol??

I received a call from dispatch today indicating that I set off a silent panic alarm via a remote 2 GIG button. I was testing the system with a dispatcher on line as I was testing.

I was put though data entry for unrelated issues, but he informed me that for “hostage” or “silen panic” alarms, they system is set up to get on the 2 way speaker. He said that this is not recommended if there is a true hostage situation. I asked him to change, but he said this is something set up with Surety Cam.

I don’t mind 2 way communication coming on if no ones announces themnselves on the speaker. Is this how it is set up and is there protocal and training in place so the dispatchers know not to say anything on 2 way communication if its a silent, or duress code entry?

If not, can you take off the 2 way communication feature (unless you have a complelling reason why it should be left on)

I believe the central station data entry may not have been thinking of it in context of 2GIG and Alarm.com.

This is how it works with the cellular two way and 2GIG. Silent Panic, Silent Burglary, and Duress signals generate a two way call, but they disallow operator voice through the panel. One can only listen in for activity on site. Check Q14 in programming. It is actually a programming question that cannot be toggled.
