Panel Cam errors since 4.5.2 upgrade IQ 4

I’ve noticed since I applied the 4.5.2 upgrade an issue where I see an error on my panel randomly. When I click it, I see the Panel Camera as the issue. I then run the system check (by touching “Run Now”) and the error goes away again for 12-24+ hours. (I really haven’t tracked the frequency.)

However before the upgrade I never saw a panel cam error. Since the upgrade I’ve seen this at least 3 times, and I upgraded 4 days ago.

Any suggestions?

[Note this is now the second issue I’ve experienced since upgrading to 4.5.2… ]

Thank you.

Is there an error with the feature, or is the red ! icon just appearing next to Panel Camera? Does the camera take desired images/video as programmed?

Hard to tell…
In other words I have all the panel images when I should, however I’m not sure we performed a disarm operation or front door unlock operation (the two things that cause an image from the camera) while it was in the ‘red ! icon’ state. (I just looked at all the clip history and it looks ok)

I could wait for it to re-appear, and then try a recording or action and see if I get the image and let you know. Thank you.

Thinking about this more - when it first happened I ran the Panel Camera test before I clicked the ‘run now’ option, just to be sure it was working, and it was. So in that sense, I suppose there was actually a test of the camera while it was in the error state and it seemed to be working fine.

I have been unable to recreate this specific issue on 4.5.2

To confirm, there was no issue on 4.5.2 presenting. You navigated to Settings > Adv Setting > System Tests > Panel Test > Run Camera Test. It passed?

Then you navigated to the home screen, swiped to the System Test card, clicked View Results then ran the System Check via the Run Now button. Afterwards the red icon appeared?

Sorry, no… Here’s the sequence.

First time it happened: I happened to be walking past the panel and I saw the error notice on the bottom right of the weather screensaver. I clicked it and found a system error. When I touched the ! icon, it said the panel cam was the error source.

At that point, I navigated to Settings > Adv Setting > System Tests > Panel Test > Run Camera Test. It passed.

I then navigated to the home screen, swiped to the System Test card, clicked View Results then ran the System Check via the Run Now button. The red ! icon disappeared.

Additional Appearances of the Error:
Some time later (maybe 10-14 hours later??) the same thing happened all over again… I happened to notice the warning on the weather home screen, clicked into the details and again it was that panel cam.

At that point all I did to clear it is run the system check via the run now button. I didn’t re-run the Panel Camera Test.

I’ve done this ‘run now’ process only as a resolution each additional time this red ! alert icon has appeared, which at this point is about 3-4 more instances since the initial emergence of the issue. Each time I only notice it as I happen to walk past the panel.

I’m waiting on some information from Qolsys to see if this is something they have heard of or not. I’ll follow up as soon as I have a bit more information.

Let us know if it happens again and if you actually lose functionality.

Following up with this, due to the holiday, I dont expect to hear back from Qolsys until the 26th or 27th but I will follow up as soon as I have something.

Out of curiosity, in Camera Settings, what items do you have disabled?

No rush… and also no failures since I posted this yesterday.
Here are screenshots of my camera settings:

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Hello. Just to update this… I’ve had no panel cam errors until this morning. So it was good for almost 7 days!?

Again, I just clicked the “Run Now” button on the ‘System Check Results’ screen, and the red ! icon went away.

I’m gonna poke Qolsys about this, see if I get anything new.

To confirm, the warning icon appeared on its own, but went away after running the system check. There were no actual issues with the camera, just the warning icon?

Yes, that is correct.
It also happened again two days ago but I forgot to post here about it.
It is very infrequent but still coming up. Maybe weekly at this point? So strange.

I wonder if it comes up and self-resolves without me even knowing at times, and I only happen to catch it once in a while? Just a thought. It doesn’t stay in the log section when it happens (like a zone tamper or a reboot would, for example.) so I wouldn’t know for sure.

Qolsys has not encountered this issue before. I have uploaded logs and Qolsys is looking into this issue. I just dont have an ETA on if/when they will find anything.

Unfortunately without some type of issue present, other than the warning indicator, I dont have any troubleshooting for you to do.

You can disable the System Health Check setting in Installer Settings but this is overkill and is going to prevent you from seeing other alerts.

Power cycling the panel may resolve the issue but that’s just conjecture on my part.

Instead of running the check next time you see the error icon, test the camera features to see if any fail, that would be the best thing you can do to rule out any actual camera issues being present.

Absolutely, yes… I will test the camera the next time it comes up before clearing/running the check. Thanks for all the follow up. Really not a major issue, unless it is a sign of another problem to come later. I will keep you posted.

Good Morning. The panel camera error came back this morning.

I tested by requesting a peek-in. The peek in photo appeared in alarm.com and the app.
Excuse my ugly mug! LOL

I also went into SmartStart and the camera works there too.

At this point I have not yet pressed “Run Now” to re-scan the system and clear the error.

As a side note I experienced another strange item - the screensaver (which I have set to show the weather) wasn’t kicking in? I tried changing to slideshow instead - no difference. I rebooted panel and it worked for a few hours and got stuck again. I finally rebooted a second time and since (about 38 hours now) the screensaver is still working. Very minor but odd - not sure if related. I also had that issue where it was mis-registering my touch commands from a couple of weeks ago. Anyway I just say all of this just for a full picture of the oddities.

Aside from the warning, no issues with the camera? I have no new information from Qolsys on this.

very minor but odd - not sure if related.

I would hesitate to suggest these issues are related. I would suggest editing the time it comes on, or disabling the feature and re-enabling as a means of resolution if reboot does not resolve. Otherwise, I would suggest a complete power cycle.

Correct, it would seem it works fine despite the error. Im clearing it now. I’m also going to do the full power cycle as well for good measure.

Funny - I just realized I actually did that before the second reboot, which now seems stable. I think it is a transient issue and not substantial in any way. Actually all of these errors are just ‘odd’ and not really service impacting. Just annoying to see the “Needs Attention” on the weather screensaver. Makes family say “the panels broken again” which hurts my ego.
