If I have MyQ garage door openers that communicate with my IQ2 panel is there any reason why I should install security contacts (reed switches) on the doors as well? The openers are new to me and I wasn’t sure if the MyQ technology is reliable enough for security purposes, or if I should just use MyQ for automation.
MyQ garage doors will tell you the status of the door in the app, support notifications for door status, and let you close or open the door remotely, but they cannot be used by the alarm panel to trigger alarms.
If you need the garage door to be monitored for alarms, you would need a separate sensor.
