One user without MFA?

I’ve got MFA turned on, and it is working successfully.
I have a home automation system that has alarm.com functions I can add.

This system will allow me to configure alarm.com but this only works for a short time before I begin to get errors related to MFA.

I tried assigning a different user with a different access code but it still needs MFA.

Is it possible to turn MFA off for a single user?

I believe this would resolve the issues I’ve been having.

Thanks in advance.

Is the other automation system homebridge by chance? If so there is a procedure to capture the mfacookie from the browser to allow homebridge to pass mfa on its own. You could google that or I could try and find it in the morning for you. But this is only if you are using homebridge.

Thanks for your reply.

It’s not homebridge but home assistant. Maybe there’s something similar.

I can search for that.

Thanks,

You can disable 2FA for one specific username by logging into Alarm.com as that user and visiting Settings > Login Information. Under two factor authentication you can disable all of the options.

If needed I can exempt your account from requiring 2FA to avoid reminders/warnings. Let me know if you would like me to do that.

Thanks Jason.

I’ll try this option.

I do not want to exempt my account from 2FA. That’s an important security feature.

Thank you.

Jason, I did as you suggested but now I cannot log in as that user because the “first time log in from a new device” is triggering 2FA.

The user I’ve set up for this is “ha_glen4cindy” so if that user could be exempted from 2FA as you offered, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

That’s been added to the exemption list. You may need to wait a few minutes for this to take effect in Alarm.com. Let me know if you have any trouble.

Thanks Jason!

Everything is working perfectly.

I appreciate your help.
