Old sensor reports open when closed

My system is a Simon XTi panel and a lot of old sensors. For the first time in a while, I opened a particular window that has a sensor. After closing the window, I tried to arm, but the system reports the window as still open. Both pieces of the sensor are still there, so not sure how opening and closing the window resulted in this condition. Any recommendation on troubleshooting? Should I try to replace the battery, even though it is not reporting a low battery? Or should I just replace the sensor, since it’s at least 14 years old. (and if I should replace, what model is compatible?)

Replacing the battery is a recommended first step as well as also making sure the magnet is aligned. If the magnet is near any metal, it may need to be closer to the sensor or even replaced as magnets can loose their strength over time and become weaker.

If realigning the sensor and a battery replacement doesn’t fix the issue, then it may be that the sensor experienced some sort of hardware failure and will need to be replaced.
