Reveived my “Welcome letter” today and got signed on to Alarm.Com. For the most part all went pretty well.
One issue, now resolved was that for what ever reason, the act of connecting to Alarm.Com set all entry exit delays to default. Easy enough to fix once recognized.
The other issue I am still dealing with is the door bell notification. I have this set up with a relay and some small time constant to hold closed to make sure the sensor sees the OPEN relay contact on the NC wireless sensor using external contact input. Locally, this turns on Portecochere lights. They used to stay on once tripped, however now with Alarm.Com, I have set them to go off after a 10 minute duration. All that works fine. The history in Alarm.Com shows it working as expected.
The issue is NO NOTIFICATION! This would be great to have if I am out in the back forty and need to know if a UPS package has been delivered for example, since they always ring the door bell.
this is the Configuration:
Sensor#8
type 23
equipment type - contact, loop #1
no dial delay
front door button
reports enabled
supervised - enabled
ding dong with voice, which does not work and Alarm.Com just shows it as ding dong.
I can turn OFF or ON the lights via Alarm.Com, with no issue.
I have set it up in Alarm.com as a specific sensor, notify at any time.
Any advice?
I forgot to include that all of this testing has been done with the Alarm NOT armed!
You would need to set up the notification on your Alarm.com account. Log in to Alarm.com and go to Notifications -> New Notification -> Sensor Activity.
I have indeed set it up in Alarm.Com. I am receiving ARMING and DISARMING notifications from Alarm.Com. I have selected this a SPECIFIC SENSOR in Alarm.Com and set to advise at all times. Not sure what next.
I am not seeing a notification for your doorbell set up on your account. Instructions for doing so can be found in this video (you can skip to time 1:24)
This is NOT a 2Gig Wireless Doorbell. I was not even aware there was such a thing to be honest.
This is a simple relay operated by the doorbell transformer that in turn operates the external contacts on a 2Gig wireless window/door sensor. That event operates Z-Wave for lighting. It all works fine, and has for years locally.
Alarm.Com will just see this as Front Door bell Button. Sensor #8.
It doesn’t matter whether your sensor is a wireless doorbell or any other type of contact. If you skip ahead to 1:24 in the video you will see how to create a Sensor Activity notification on your account. I can see on your account that you don’t currently have a Sensor Activity notification.
Log in to Alarm.com and go to Notifications -> New Notification -> Sensor Activity.
Well I deleted the notification completely, and then put it back in, exactly as I had done before, and now seems to be fine. Not sure why it was not seen before, however it works now.
