No Z-wave when power is out?

My power was out when I got home, but it had been about an hour, so the battery for the IQ4 panel was still working. I could talk to the panel using the app, but it wouldn’t send an unlock command to either of my doors. I’m using Schlage Connect locks. The PIN also didn’t work, but that was my fault.

My question is: why didn’t the Z-wave command work? The app just sat there spinning while trying to unlock the door. Does the IQ4 turn off the Z-wave radio while on battery power? There’s no other Z-wave devices in the house. One lock is literally 3 feet from the panel, so the signal level should have been fine. When commercial power was restored, the unlock command worked perfectly.

I have not tried unplugging the power supply to the panel yet and seeing what happens. I want to ask here if that’s expected behavior or not? Or if I should look for anything specific when I unplug the power supply?

The IQ Panel 4’s Z-Wave radio is disabled during power outages to conserve battery life.

Qolsys panels have a setting called Power Management, which disables non-essential functions and allows the system to keep operating for approximately 24 hours. Power Management can be disabled in the panel programming; however, this drops the expected battery life to around 4 hours.

Power Management settings can be found under Settings > Advanced Settings > Enter installer or dealer code > Installation > Installer/Dealer settings.

Oh wow! From 24 hours to 4 hours. That’s a big difference. I’ll make sure to have a backup plan then. I already fixed my PIN code issues, but I’ll go ahead and get a couple of copies of the physical key. Thank you for the fast response!
