No saved clips from one camera

Hi,
I just replaced an old ADC-V720W with an ADC-V722W that I bought second hand. It installed easily and the live view works perfectly both at the alarm.com website and the iPhone app. I love the better resolution especially the night view.
The problem is it won’t save motion activated video clips. I can get it to save the 50-60 second clip by clicking on that icon in the live view. I am nowhere near my monthly limit. My other cameras have no problem saving motion activated video clips. The V722W seems to have the latest firmware.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far: I did a full hard reset of the camera after deleting it completely from the alarm.com site. I then reinstalled it and verified the live view worked well. I went into the settings and set up 3 “tripwire” windows in the VMD section with medium sensitivity and a small target size. I set up a video recording rule for this camera (at all times) with a 5 minute minimum delay between uploads. Am I missing something else?

One other observation. I was able to twice trigger the motion clip by climbing the ladder and basically covering the lens with my hand. It doesn’t work every time. I’m starting to think there’s something seriously wrong with the camera.

I’m unable to see the actual windows, but to try to troubleshoot whether the cam’s VMD is functioning right I would boil it down to basics.

Power cycle the camera, then try widening the VMD windows just a bit and leave the target size as low as it can go. Increase the sensitivity. Remove the delay between clips.

Wait about 5 minutes, then try triggering the VMD normally. There should never be a need to wave a hand inches from the camera, so we just need to see if it picks up normal activity like walking through that section of frame.

Try testing for 5-10 times and see what you get. Any luck?

Jason,

I’m not quite sure why, but doing all of what you said solved the problem. I’m guessing that the big change was the sensitivity (I went from 5 to 10). I’m hoping the delay between clips wasn’t the issue. I use that to minimize the number of uploads from shadows in the driveway. Now I’ll just start slowly reverting one thing at a time. I’m just glad the camera itself doesn’t seem to be the issue.

It could be that settings did not accurately save in the camera previously. That’s why I suggested the power cycle first.

Yep, with outdoor cams the required settings will be unique to the cam and will take a little trial and error to dial in, but VMD should otherwise be working for you then!

Thanks, again!

Jason,

One last thing. The camera is working great now that I have the sensitivity turned up. The one thing left is that it doesn’t show up in the Apple Watch app under Video (the other 2 cameras do). It also doesn’t show up in the iPhone app under Video > Settings icon > Live Video Camera Resolution (once again the other 2 cameras do). I tried deleting the apps in both the iPhone and Apple Watch and reinstalling but this didn’t solve it.

Thanks.

Per ADC, at this time, the Apple Watch app currently does not support Alarm.com Wi-Fi Doorbell Cameras, '22 series, '25 series, and '26 series Alarm.com cameras.

I believe the 722W model has fixed resolution, but I will double check to be sure and report back.
